    Hiring Workers

Workers was one of the hardest things for railroad owner Charles Crocker to get. All kinds of people were looking for work, ranging from Caucasians to Chinese. Though they didn't make very much money, they eventually became stronger as groups, and later created a Union for workers. Most of Crocker's workers were Irish Immigrants, and he could only hold onto 800 at a time, yet he had 4,000 spots available.
